Magel was very welcoming and friendly. She was very nice to talk to and was very informative about the history and ecology of the route’s environment. We gained a lot of knowledge and memorable experiences, and even ended the session with a warm cup of tea (and tasty oliebollen!). It was definitely worthwhile and we would recommend it to anyone!

This was the top Airbnb experience during my Amsterdam stay. A great break from the city-museums-dining-cycling and a great outdoor adventure. An insightful and relaxing way to learn more from the expert about Dutch countryside, waterlands, local flora and fauna. Extra bonus for the tea at Majel’s garden overseeing the canal and a picnic. Don’t be afraid of the weather forecast, it’s flakey but clears up most of the time

This was great! Being on this type of canoe for the first time was a challenge but after a few minutes, you manage to sail almost smoothly. To be fair, it was quite windy so it added to the challenge, but it was fun! The stories Majel told us were very informative and she was very welcoming: she let us dry off at her place while we ate our sandwiches and even offered us a slice of delicious apple pie. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience!

“Truly wonderful experience!! This excursion was the highlight of our trip and we would recommend this to everyone!! Majel was so lovely and passionate it was truly a pleasure to meet her. The trip was also so well thought through – it offered a perfect balance between socialing, learning, exploring and eating! Thank you Majel 😊
Highly recommended
TripAdvisor review: Guided Sunset Canoe Tour and Dinner in Waterland from Amsterdam
Directly under the smoke of crowded Amsterdam a trip in a natural rural environment as if the time stood still. A competent and enthusiastic guide, besides details of nature she also shows you the tower Rembrandt copied on one of his famous etchings and she even explains the Dutch polder model (= consensus decision making) and its origin
Wonderful fun, very interesting and enjoyable for all our group
TripAdvisor review: Guided Canoe Adventure with Picnic Lunch in Waterland from Amsterdam
This activity proved to be one of the highlights of our visit to Amsterdam, even though it ended in torrential rain. We loved Majel’s approach as she guided us through the beautiful canals. She was very knowledgeable and keen to share her all her experience with us. The trip was relaxed and fun, even for one very nervous individual. The picnic held in a bird hide (due to the rain) was amazing and suitable for all types of culinary tastes. We would definitely recommend this activity as a great way to explore the wetlands area, we loved it.

“Majel is such a warm and fun person. My brother and I enjoyed every second of this unique experience. Picnic on the island was also very nice, Majel brought plenty of food. The weather was a bit chilly but the whole experience was so serene and peaceful. Thank you Majel! ”

We had such a good time! Our guide was informative and friendly. We learned about the area, the wildlife, birds, history and terrain. The canoeing was fun, the water smooth making it easy to paddle, the setting was interesting and beautiful. Our guide prepared a picnic lunch which was a perfect time for getting to know the other guests. It was a celebratory day for us and for the other couple making it a fabulous experience for one and all.
Life jackets were provided. Bus transportation to and from the site was included.
Try it, you’ll like it even if you don’t know how to canoe (which we did). Our extra bonus was picture perfect weather.

thank you for taking me out today.  I had a good time and will recommend you to others.  I thought it was better than the other tours I did, really, cos I am not a city person, I like camping, etc..

Thank you for the fabulous day today.  Everything was perfect.  We enjoyed seeing the canals and birds up close and learning about the history and the current efforts to maintain the land.
A great day for us.

Loved, loved, loved this tour!! Our guide was fantastic and a bit of a celebrity- she hosted Rick Steves on his televised visit…Canals were so beautiful and we loved going under the small bridges. It was so much more scenic than the larger canals in Amsterdam proper. Picnic lunch was yummy…Can’t say enough about the value and excellence of this tour!!

In simple words ‘out of this world’. I took this trip with my aunt on 15th April 2016 as last leg of our 7 days stay in Amsterdam and I must say this was the best one. We both thoroughly enjoyed the 5 hour long scenic, beautiful, full of nature canoe through the narrow bridges. The best part is the an awesome, ever smiling guide who made us feel more comfortable and enjoy it to the fullest. A ‘MUST’ for those who admire nature and some physical activities. Its not at all tiring nor required any previous experience. I am back with so many unforgettable memories of nature: Thank you for having such an amazing itinerary.

We still talk about our wonderful canoe ride. It was a highlight of our trip. This summer we’ll be going to Barcelona, but I now have a desire to see more of the Netherlands after visiting your fantastic country.

Our canoe trip with you was one of the highlights of our European sabbatical this summer. If we hear of anyone going to Amsterdam

We loved our day with you and enjoy all the pictures we took. Especially the dancing cows, white swans, and delicious lunch.

We are back home in England now and enjoying a nice sunny day. We must thank you very much for a wonderful day with you on your Wetland Safari. Paddling through the waterways was really enjoyable and so was the magnificent lunch. Very many thanks.

Gerald, Karen, Alan, Debs and Jessica

We have just returned to California after a month in Europe. One of the highlights of our trip was the Wetlands Safari. It was so much fun. Our granddaughter, Jessica, is still talking about it. I want to thank you for providing us with this wonderful experience. It was really fun and easy…even at our age and inexperience. Your picnic was memorable too. Thanks again for a delightful outing.

Just want to say thank you again for a great day last Sunday! Let me know if the canals freeze over and you decide to do ice-skating trips!

This was a fun, different way to spend most of a day and have a chance to escape the busy Amsterdam city center while getting a bit of exercise too. The guide, Majel, who is also the owner of the tour company will wait outside the Amsterdam Central train station in the morning. You will take a local bus and travel a short distance into the country right outside Amsterdam. It will give you a quick view of life outside the city. It is amazing how fast the city stops and the fields begin. The town is criss-crossed with waterways. Canoeing through the village and through a local nature preserve, you will get an explanation as to how the land has been actually created by the Dutch out of lakes and ponds. No prior canoeing experience would be necessary. If you are interested, the company has a website.

Kam Wai (Amsterdam/ Hong Kong)watergang

Dank hiervoor!

Setsuko from Japan

Dear Majel, I had a very good time on your wetlandssafari tour on 3th August with people from Hawaii. It was a lot of fun. Thank you very much for your nice guided tour. I continued my travel in Belgium and enjoyed it. Yesterday I came back to Japan. It is hot and humid this summer in Japan. I wish you a good summer and I hope I’ll visit Amsterdam again.

Majel Tromp was thrilled when he printed a blurb about her canoe tours near Amsterdam. He’s expanding the blurb into a full recommendation in his next book, …

Cirque du Soleil

Just a quick message to say thank-you for organising a wonderful day for Cirque du Soleil. The tandems, canoes and especially the lovely lunch outside with super lovely food and fruit salad. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and we will remember it as a great day for sure.   I will definitely recommend this to other companies too, should anyone need an idea.
